Since publication EECA has notified the Business Council that there is confusion around the definition of "arable land".
EECA state that should arable land be defined as all land suitable for cropping and cultivation as opposed to that in arable crop use, then only 10% of New Zealand's arable land would be required to produce 6% of national diesel demand. More recent data indicate that the production may be 8% of diesel demand from 10% of available arable land.
